On June 8th and 9th, Automotive Technology Centre and HTAS Automotive Innovation organized the 2010 edition of the International Congress on Automotive Technology and Innovation. At this high-profile conference over 450 engineers, managers and executives from all over Europe discussed future automotive technologies and new business opportunities. This event has over the last years proven to be the most important and interesting happening on the Dutch automotive technology calendar.
On the first congress day, Franciscus van Meel, Senior Vice President Project Steering and Strategy Vehicle Electrification at Audi AG, presented the passionate holistic approach that Audi is pursuing with electric mobility. Rik van Aken, Vice President Marketing & Product Management Automotive at TomTom, gave a give a brief history of the innovation at TomTom, explain the principles of Map Share™, IQ Routes™ and HD Traffic and concluded with some lessons learnt in driving innovation in the Automotive industry. On the second day, Roger Deckers, Vice President Powertrain Innovation, Environment and Customer Specification at the Powertrain Division of Renault, explained that Renault clearly has stated that sustainable mobility has to be made affordable to all and will enable everyone to be eco-responsible. Peter Rieth, Senior Vice President Systems & Technology Division Chassis & Safety at Continental, gave a presentation about the current status in the functional potential attained by networking active and passive safety systems, the integration of surrounding sensors and introduces telematics as the next ultimate step towards global vehicle and traffic safety.
