. Wide range of high-quality products for treating and protecting metal surfaces
. Environmentally friendly conversion coating for galvanized steel coil
BASF will be presenting its high-quality products and processes for treating and protecting metal surfaces by taking part in the “World of Surfaces” at the Hanover Messe 2011, the world’s leading technological trade fair, from April 4 – 8, 2011. Experts from BASF will be in attendance on the Zentralverband Oberflächentechnik stand - Stand No. 14 in Hall 6 - to demonstrate its solutions for corrosion protection and for pretreating and coating metal.

Effective solutions for corrosion protection
BASF offers formulators a wide range of products for environmentally friendly electroplating and corrosion protection applications. Our specialty chemicals help to protect metal substrates from corrosion and abrasion, and they are employed world wide in electroplating, electroless plating, passivation and surface treatment processes. Our water-soluble polymers from the Lugalvan portfolio form a protective film, improve adhesion and can even prevent pitting corrosion on stainless steel in the presence of chloride. Organic amides and phosphates from the Korantin assortment can be used to protect mild steel and to reduce its sliding friction.

Environmentally friendly conversion coating for galvanized steel plate: Lugalvan® Passivation

Lugalvan Passivation is designed for use in conversion coatings for galvanized steel coil. It is free of fluoride and chromium, and it does not contain any other heavy metals. The coating is transparent and colorless, and it is based entirely on organic ingredients. Lugalvan Passivation prevents the corrosion caused by exposure to salts and corrosion to stockpiled steel, and the metal has very high surface conductivity after treatment. Lugalvan Passivation can simply be painted over, and it is easy to remove with alkaline strippers.
