Meet Chantelle and Louis, who both work at Mining Area C, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

They defied the odds to conceive a ‘miracle baby’ and with the support of their team, decided to create an epic reveal to share their wonderful news.

“It was a true team effort. There’s a family culture here and when we told our Supervisor and General Manager, they wanted to help us celebrate and share our joy,” said Chantelle.

Chantelle and Louis celebrated their reveal using a 996 digger on a scheduled stop, the same one they operate at Mining Area C, to create a moment of magic safely and spectacularly for the entire team.

A coloured chalk powder, used on site for previous colour blasts, created the spectacular gender reveal.

Both Chantelle and Louis are part of A Crew at Mining Area C where they met back in 2017.

At BHP, we are committed to creating a flexible workplace that supports our people to achieve the balance they may need at all life stages. This includes fostering flexible work arrangements, making it possible for BHP couples like Chantelle and Louis to start a family, even under challenging circumstances.
