Macquarie Asset Management has reached an agreement to divest its 50 per cent stake in the South Clyde Energy Centre in Scotland to Gren Energy.

South Clyde Energy Centre is an Energy-from-Waste Facility under construction in Glasgow. Upon entering operations in 2026, the facility is expected to process up to 350,000 tonnes of residual, non-recyclable waste, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 67 kt CO2e per annum.1 While helping to divert waste from landfill, the facility is expected to generate approximately 45 MWe of electricity or enough to power the equivalent of 70,000 homes.2

Macquarie Asset Management invested in the South Clyde Energy Centre in 2022 alongside Fortum.
