ANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/15/2006 -- Solid Data Systems, Inc., the leading global provider of solid-state storage systems, today introduced a line of low cost, rack space-saving appliances for fibre channel connected server, cluster, and storage area network (SAN) environments. The new SD2000 solid-state disk (SSD) boosts server performance up to 10 times in transaction-intensive applications, enabling more efficient utilization of the customer's existing server and rotating storage investments, while offering substantial cost savings.

"Solid Data Solid-State Disks have proven to be amongst the most reliable components in our mission critical architecture," said Jans Martens, Managing Director of Speech Design, a provider of next generation mobility and messaging solutions. "In addition, Solid Data SSDs have provided substantial performance advantages over traditional storage products that have allowed us to meet our customer's aggressive SLA requirements."

"With the same impressive performance as the successful model SD3000 at a considerably lower price and smaller 1U form factor, the new SD2000 can provide our customers with a total cost savings per transaction of greater than 50%," added Mark Hayashida, Director of Systems Architecture and Sales Engineering at Solid Data.

"The most recent addition to our fibre channel product line exemplifies the strength of our company," said Wade Tuma, Founder and CEO of Solid Data. "Having already doubled Q1 revenues over Q1 2005, we look forward to continued rapid growth with the success of the SD2000."

SD2000 Fibre Channel SSD

The SD2000 stores and retrieves data with a latency of less than 10 microseconds, making it and the SD3000 the lowest latency non-volatile, external storage systems in the industry -- 500 times faster than mechanical disk storage. The SD2000 provides an alternative to spreading files over a large numbers of rotating disks to achieve acceptable application performance. While more expensive than rotating disks in cost per byte, in appropriate applications, the SD2000 lowers overall cost per transaction by lowering server, storage, licensing, and maintenance costs. When databases are small, the entire database is placed on SD2000. For larger databases, subsets of the database that have critical impact on performance (such as roll-back segments, logs, temporary sort areas, indices, and heavily accessed tables) are stored on SD2000, while data less critical to application performance are stored conventionally. In either configuration, the result is significantly improved performance and reliability, at a lower cost per transaction.

The SD2000 supports fibre channel arbitrated loop, point-to-point and switched fabric connections through its dual fibre channel ports. It also incorporates robust data protection features and advanced remote management functionality, with data storage capacities ranging from 2 to 16GB in a 1U rack-mount enclosure.

All SD2000 systems are designed with high-bandwidth data paths and dual Fibre Channel connections with path fail over. Other high-availability features include patented error detection and correction (EDAC), and Solid Data's Remote Monitoring and Reporting (RMR(TM)) feature. RMR supports SNMP for traps and monitoring with packages such as CA Unicenter, HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli. RMR also supports a password-protected Web browser interface for anytime, anywhere remote monitoring and diagnostics.
