New Technology Also Allows for Widest Range of Capacity in a 1U Appliance
SANTA CLARA, CAlif. USA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 14, 2006 -- Solid Data Systems, Inc., the leading global provider of solid-state storage systems, announced today that it has doubled the capacity of its family of solid-state disk systems. By creating new double density memory boards, Solid Data offers twice the capacity in all of their current products, as well as an upgrade for the SD3000 to 100GB total capacity.

"Based on customer demand for higher capacity within a chassis, we developed a technology that doubles the density of memory arrays," said Wade Tuma, CEO of Solid Data Systems, Inc. "We are pleased to be able to offer 100GB in a 3U appliance and to continue to enhance all our SSD product lines for our customers."

Data storage capacities for the current SD3000 now range from 4 to 48GB, while the SD3000X2 (SD3000 upgrade) carries 16 GB to 100GB in a 3U rack-mount enclosure.

The SD2000 now offers data storage capacities of 2, 4, 8 and 16GB in a 1U rack-mount enclosure, making it the most flexible SSD available in this convenient, entry-level form factor.

"Having introduced the industry's first 1U form factor SSD back in 2000, it should come as no surprise that Solid Data continues to offer the most robust SSD product lines, giving customers the widest range of options available on the market today," said Mark Hayashida, Director of Systems Architecture and Sales Engineering at Solid Data.

About Solid Data SSD Systems
Solid Data's SSD systems store and retrieve data with a latency of less than 10 microseconds, making these appliances the highest performing low latency non-volatile, external storage systems in the industry -- 500 times faster than mechanical disk storage. They provide a high performance alternative to spreading files over a large numbers of rotating disks to achieve desired application performance. While more expensive than rotating disks in cost per byte, in appropriate applications, Solid Data's SSDs dramatically lower overall cost per transaction by lowering server, storage, licensing, and maintenance costs. When databases are < 100GB, the entire database is placed on SSD. For larger databases, subsets of the database that have critical impact on performance (such as roll-back segments, logs, temporary sort areas, indices, and heavily accessed tables) are stored on SSD, while data less critical to application performance are stored conventionally. In either configuration, the result is significantly improved performance and reliability, at a lower cost per transaction.

All SD2000 and SD3000 systems are designed with high-bandwidth data paths and dual Fibre Channel connections with path fail over. Other high-availability features include patented error detection and correction (EDAC), and Solid Data's Remote Monitoring and Reporting (RMR(TM)) feature. RMR supports SNMP for traps and monitoring with packages such as CA Unicenter, HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli. RMR also supports a password-protected Web browser interface for anytime, anywhere remote monitoring and diagnostics.

The SD3000 and SD3000X2 systems also include the "permarack" feature which allows for modular replacement of 100% of all active components and subassemblies without de-racking or tools.
