First Time Both TV and Radio Have Been Measured Through One Device by One Measurement Standard
SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 11, 2006 -- M:Metrics, the mobile market authority, today announced that it has deployed its M:Meter on-device mobile measurement platform to measure mobile video and radio in a trial in the United States with a leading DVB-H provider.

"With this trial, M:Metrics extends its leadership in the measurement of mobile content, becoming the first to measure both mobile TV and radio content simultaneously though one electronic device," said Brian Fleisher, vice president, business development for M:Metrics. "In the history of media measurement, there have always been at least two non-compatible methods for measuring the viewing and listening habits of consumers. With the mobile phone and M:Metrics' M:Meter platform, there now is one."

The M:Meter is the first commercially available mobile device meter designed to measure the behaviors of mobile content consumers anywhere. Its flexible infrastructure is used in the measurement of audience reach and advertising effectiveness of mobile media across mobile television, music, web browsing and messaging services. These measures are all critical elements to the growth of the mobile content and advertising industry.

"Usage metering is critical to the commercialization of the mobile broadcast industry, providing justifications for revenue-rich applications such as advertising and informing strategic decisions such as program scheduling," said Sam Leinhardt, CEO, Penthera Technologies. "M:Metrics provides a keystone to service commercialization, and the M:Meter platform is impressive in its ability to accurately measure and report on the behaviors of consumers' use of mobile TV and radio." Penthera, who develops innovative, end-to-end mobile broadcast software solutions, provides the service-enabling software used in the trial.
