April 19 (Bloomberg) -- China, the world’s second-biggest oil user, will lend Venezuela $20 billion and form a venture to pump crude from an Orinoco Belt block, President Hugo Chavez said as he promised to meet the Asian country’s energy needs. The financing from China is separate from a $12 billion bilateral investment fund, Chavez said, and will pay for Venezuelan development projects. Venezuela currently sends China 460,000 barrels a day of crude oil. The oil is used to repay the Asian country for $8 billion Venezuela used from the fund for infrastructure projects.

Amsterdam - Ahold heeft in de periode van 12 tot en met 16 april 206,842 van haar gewone aandelen teruggekocht. De aandelen werden teruggekocht voor een gemiddelde prijs van € 10.2842 per aandeel voor een totaalbedrag van € 2.13 miljoen, in het kader van het programma voor de terugkoop van € 500 miljoen aan aandelen dat Ahold op 4 maart 2010 bekendmaakte.
Tot op heden zijn in totaal 889,268 gewone aandelen teruggekocht voor een totaalbedrag van € 9.07 miljoen.

Puts account for about 55 percent of all June options contracts compared with 51 percent a year earlier.

LUXEMBURG (AFN) - De bouwproductie in de eurozone is in februari met 3,3 procent afgenomen vergeleken met een maand eerder. In de gehele Europese Unie nam de productie met 2,9 procent af. Dat blijkt uit maandag gepubliceerde eerste schattingen van het Europees statistisch bureau Eurostat.In vergelijking met een jaar eerder lag de productie in de bouwsector in de zestien eurolanden 15,2 procent lager. In de 27 EU-landen was sprake van een daling van de bouwproductie op jaarbasis met 10,2 procent.

The medicines also may bolster the prospects of Merck & Co., Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Johnson & Johnson, the companies in a race to get the first new treatment to the market in a decade. About half of patients can’t tolerate the side effects of existing therapies, which generate $2 billion annually in sales. The new drugs could expand the market to $10 billion in five years, said Geoff Porges, an analyst for Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in New York.

The 1.4 percent increase in the New York-based Conference Board’s measure of the outlook for three to six months was more than anticipated and followed a revised 0.4 percent gain in February.
Manufacturers are ratcheting up production and factory workers are putting in longer hours as companies rebuild inventories and ship more goods overseas. Further improvement in the job market is needed to help sustain the economy’s recovery from the worst recession since the 1930s.
