Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Co. may sell preferred stock alongside its initial public offering of common shares, according to a draft of its regulatory filing and two people briefed on the plan. GM would get proceeds from the preferred offering and will not sell shares itself in the common offering, according to the draft and the people, who declined to be identified because the filing hasn’t been publicly released. The Detroit-based automaker, 61 percent owned by the government, will seek to raise $12 billion to $16 billion in the IPO, a person familiar with the plan said last week. The U.S. Treasury will sell some of the shares it holds in the company, the people said.

KOPENHAGEN (AFN) - Het Deens conglomeraat A.P. Möller-Maersk (Maersk) heeft opnieuw zijn winstverwachting voor dit jaar naar boven bijgesteld. De onderneming voorziet nu dat de winst over 2010 boven de 4 miljard dollar (3,1 miljard euro) uitkomt, vooral dankzij een herstel van de containermarkt.
Het concern behaalde een nettowinst over het eerste halfjaar van 14,2 miljard kroon (bijna 2 miljoen euro), vergeleken met een verlies van 3 miljard kroon in dezelfde periode een jaar eerder. De omzet klom 20 procent tot 153,5 miljard kroon.

Fortify's technology will allow HP to offer software that helps organizations reduce business risk, meet compliance regulations and protect against malicious application attacks. After the deal closes, HP will initially run Fortify as a standalone entity and later integrate it into its software and solutions business. The companies had already tied up for an advanced security analysis technology.

The Peoria, Illinois-based company will use the engine in vehicles including mid-range tracked tractors as well as hydraulic excavators.

Reuters) - Oil explorer Dana Petroleum's (DNX.L) barriers against an unsolicited takeover approach from Korea National Oil Corp (KNOC) are falling fast, raising the chances of an agreed deal between the parties.
KNOC KOILC.UL made a 1.67 billion pound ($2.61 billion) indicative bid for North Sea and Egypt-focused Dana last month. Dana refused to endorse this and said it would only let KNOC conduct due diligence, which could have led to a higher offer, if KNOC signed a non-disclosure agreement that investors said typically include clauses which would preclude KNOC from later making a hostile bid.
