Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc is expected to buy the parent company of Diapers.com for $540 million to $545 million, according to media reports. The deal will be announced on Monday, said a report on Fortune magazine's website on Saturday, which did not cite any sources. The acquisition comes as Amazon has stepped up its efforts to boost its baby care products business. In September, Amazon launched its Amazon Mom program, offering perks like three-months worth of free two-day shipping. Amazon also offered a 30 percent discount on diapers and wipes to consumers who sign up for its Subscribe & Save program for consumable items.

Reuters) - Private equity firm Doughty Hanson DOUHA.UL is set to buy Vue Entertainment VUENT.UL, Britain's third-biggest cinema chain, in a deal valuing the business at about 450 million pounds, the Financial Times said on Monday. Vue's founders own 51 percent of the business and the rest is owned by private equity group Coller Capital and U.S. hedge fund Och-Ziff (OZM.N), both of which would sell their stakes to Doughty Hanson, the FT said. People familiar with the situation told the newspaper that Doughty fought off competition from a number of private equity bidders, including BC Partners BCPRT.ULJ and Omers Private Equity.

The Fiat 500 EV, an electric version of Fiat (FIA.MI) 500 model, will be launched in the U.S. market in 2012, Samsung added. Chrysler emerged from a U.S. government-controlled bankruptcy last year under the management of Italy's Fiat. The 50-50 joint venture SB LiMotive are supplying its lithium-ion batteries to Germany's BMW (BMWG.DE) and the U.S. auto parts maker Delphi. Samsung did not provide further details on contract terms and value.

Reuters) - E.ON (EONGn.DE), the German power company, is in advanced talks to sell Britain's second-largest electricity distribution network to a group of foreign investors for up to 3.5 billion pounds ($5.6 billion), the Sunday Times reported. The report said a consortium comprising the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Australian Bank Macquarie MBL.UL had approached E.ON about the business, made up of the former Midlands and East Midlands Electricity companies. The consortium made the approach for E.ON Central Networks recently and talks advanced quickly, the report added.

EBay Inc., United Parcel Service Inc. and 196 other companies raised profit estimates above analysts’ projections last month as 130 firms cut them, the biggest gap since Bloomberg began tracking the data in 1999. Shipping companies and computer makers boosted forecasts the most, pushing the Morgan Stanley Cyclical Index of businesses most tied to the economy up 27 percent since July 2. That beat the 20 percent rally in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.

Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. households cut their debt last quarter, borrowing less against homes and closing credit card accounts, according to a survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Consumer indebtedness totaled $11.6 trillion at the end of September, down $110 billion, or 0.9 percent from the end of June, according to the New York Fed’s quarterly report on household debt and credit. Households have slashed about $1 trillion from outstanding consumer debts since the peak in the third quarter of 2008, the New York Fed said.
