Op Wall Street namen beleggers een afwachtende houding aan, de geldpers draait weer en welke invloed zal dat per "saldo"' op de economie hebben?
Die vraag vroegen veel beleggers zich af en dat hield ze aan de zijlijn, de Dow liet 60 punten liggen en de nasdaq 17 bij 'n slotstand van 11.346 voor de Dow en 2.562 voor de Nasdaq.
Ook was 't edelmetaal wisselvallig, onzekerheid maakte weer plaats voor "duidelijkheid" en weer niet. Goud steeg eerst naar 'n record ruim $1.420 en later kwamen winstnemingen opzetten en de vraag kwam ook, zal de "goudstandaard' er wel komen?
Goud sloot op $1.398,60 en zilver werd gedumpt naar $27,58
Dat biedt kansen voor de late instappers, want zilver biedt in onze ogen betere winstkansen dan goud, ook hield de sterkere dollar aan de daling van 't edelmetaal wat mee.

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- China posted a larger-than-forecast $27.1 billion October trade surplus, a day before Group of 20 leaders including Presidents Barack Obama and Hu Jintao meet in Seoul to tackle global imbalances in spending and capital flows. Exports gained 22.9 percent from a year earlier and imports rose 25.3 percent, the customs bureau said on its website today. With the surplus pumping more cash into the fastest-growing major economy, the central bank ordered some lenders to set aside more money as reserves in an effort to damp liquidity.

Reuters) - Chevron Corp (CVX.N) plans to buy U.S. natural gas producer Atlas Energy (ATLS.O) for $3.2 billion, becoming one of the last big oil companies to jump into the Marcellus shale field. The field in western Pennsylvania and neighboring states, one of the largest U.S. natural gas finds in decades, has attracted a crush of industry heavyweights betting that the fuel will become a key global energy source in the coming decades. Chevron's move into the Marcellus follows acquisitions by Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) earlier this year, and joint venture deals there by Total (TOTF.PA), BP Plc (BP.L) and Statoil (STL.OL).

BRUSSEL (AFN) - De Europese Commissie heeft dinsdag de luchtvaartmaatschappij Air France-KLM beboet wegens kartelvorming. Air France moet ruim 182 miljoen euro betalen, KLM ruim 127 miljoen. Martinair, dat deel uitmaakt van de Air-France KLM-groep, krijgt ook een boete opgelegd. Het gaat om 29,5 miljoen euro. Negen andere luchtvaartbedrijven worden eveneens beboet, waaronder British Airways (ruim 104 miljoen), Cargolux (bijna 80 miljoen) en Singapore Airlines (ruim 74 miljoen). Het totale bedrag aan boetes bedraagt ruim 799 miljoen euro.

TIE is selecting a new banker
TIE Holding N.V. (“TIE”) reports that the contract with Rabobank will not be extended. It has been decided not to extend the contract. As a result of this, the credit facility amounting to EUR 350k, will be reduced in steps, and ends on February 28, 2011. TIE is investigating the options to obtain a credit facility with another bank and expects that the repayment of the facility does not lead to cash flow issues, due to the restricted size of the facility. Once a new credit facility has been provided, TIE will use the funds for the daily operation and business development.

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Allianz SE, Europe’s biggest insurer, said it may hit the upper end of its full-year earnings forecast after reporting third-quarter profit that beat analysts’ estimates. Net income fell to 1.26 billion euros ($1.74 billion) from 1.37 billion euros in the year-earlier period, the company said in an e-mailed statement today. That topped the 1.2 billion-euro average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. “With this strong performance, I expect our full-year operating profit to trend towards the upper end of our target range” of 7.2 billion euros, plus or minus 500 million euros, Chief Executive Officer Michael Diekmann said in the statement.

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The Bank of England said inflation is likely to fall back toward its 2 percent target over the two- year forecast period even as policy makers grow more divided on the outlook for prices and economic growth.
“The chances of inflation being either above or below the target by the end of the forecast period are judged to be roughly equal,” the central bank said in its quarterly inflation report in London today. “The U.K. recovery is expected to continue, supported by expansionary monetary policy, further growth in global demand and the past depreciation of sterling.” The Bank of England last week kept its bond-purchase plan unchanged at 200 billion pounds ($322 billion) after Britain’s economy grew twice as fast as predicted in the third quarter. The central bank said today that there is a “wider than usual range of views” among officials.

Applications for jobless benefits declined by 24,000 to 435,000 in the week ended Nov. 6, lower than the median forecast in a Bloomberg News survey, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. The total number of people collecting unemployment insurance fell to the lowest level since November 2008, and those receiving extended payments also declined.

Exports increased 0.3 percent on foreign demand for aircraft, generators and foods, and imports fell.
