Grondstofprijzen trekken aan, daardoor worden voedselprijzen te hoog, dat vonden wij en nu ook IMF topman D. Strauss-Kahn ook. Beschermingen en zelfs oorlog ziet hij ervan komen.
Waarom lossen we dat niet op, door een "verplichte" leveringsplicht van 4-% van het contract?
Dan zijn de speculanten er zo uit. Want die zorgen voor een ongelijk evenwicht tussen vraag en aanbod. Ons voorbeeld van de INRO (Rubber) die ter ziele ging eind jaren 1990, is daar het mooiste voorbeeld van. Toen kwamen in de Rubberhandel ook de eerste speculanten.

De schuldenlast alweer vergeten? Dat zagen wij ook bij de kooplust van het afgesplitste Aperam. Wisten de kopers wel wat er allemaal nog voor onzekerheden waren? Waarom wilde Arcelot Mittal ervan af? Omdat die branche niet liep en steeds voor verlies zorgde.
Zo ook voor de Euro, daar hangen veel "molenstenen" om de nek van de sterkere Eurolanden, maar kunnen/willen zij die last wel dragen?
Terecht zegt Merkel (Dtsld) tot zover en niet verder. Is het niet: "verbeter de wereld, begin bij jezelf"!
Profiteer van dat sterkere moment van de Euro.

Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Banks in Sweden will outperform their European competitors in revenue growth this year as a faster economic expansion and higher central bank borrowing rates boost interest income, analysts said.
Sweden’s biggest banks will see a 10 percent average increase this year in net interest income -- the difference between what a bank makes from lending and what it pays on deposits -- according to data compiled by MF Global UK Ltd. That compares with a 5 percent average gain among competing European banks, it estimates. Next year, net interest income in Sweden will jump 11 percent, while rivals may grow 6.5 percent.

Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Smith & Nephew Plc, which gained 16 percent on takeover speculation, is still worth almost 60 percent more, or $15.6 billion, in an acquisition. Companies in the past decade have offered to buy medical- products makers at a median of 12.7 times trailing 12-month earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The multiple would value Smith & Nephew’s equity at $15.6 billion, based on Ebitda of $1.28 billion that analysts project Europe’s biggest maker of knee and hip replacements will have this year. That’s 57 percent higher than its average market value in the past 20 days.

Reuters) - The dollar clawed back some losses while the euro slipped on Wednesday after an apparent lack of consensus about a euro zone rescue fund highlighted ongoing uncertainty about how to solve the region's debt problems.
Comments from a German government source that Berlin opposed the EFSF rescue fund buying bonds from euro zone countries helped to pull the euro back from a near three-month high hit against the dollar in earlier trade. A ratings downgrade of Irish government debt by ratings agency Standard and Poor's also underlined fundamental weakness in some euro zone countries, prompting short-term speculators to sell the single currency. "The euro is selling off further on this," said a trader in London, referring to Germany's resistance to the bond buying.

ING received 10 billion euros in state aid in 2008 at the height of the credit crisis and is selling some operations and splitting its bank and insurance operations to meet European Commission requirements for allowing the state bailout."I think next year it should be possible," ING's chief executive Jan Hommen said, referring to the planned listing of the group's insurance units. "It will depend on the market. We will look at what we can do first and what size." The company had previously said it was planning two listings, one in Europe and one in the United States and although the last quarter of 2011 was possible, it had said 2012 was more likely.

growth, and the index has been above that level for 18 months. ISM Prices Paid (Jan) came in at 81.5, up from 72.5 in December.
U.S. Auto Sales (Jan) were up 18%, led by General Motors (GM) and Chrysler, despite harsh weather conditions that plagued many regions.
Germany’s Jobless Rate (Jan) dropped to 7.4%, its lowest rate since the country began keeping records for this measure in 1999.
South Korea’s CPI (Jan) rose 4.1% from the prior year, ahead of the expected 3.9% and out of the Bank of Korea’s 2-4% target range. Cold weather and an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease pushed prices higher.
China’s Headline PMI (Jan) further softened by 1 percentage point to 52.9, the second-consecutive monthly decline.

The PMI new orders index declined 0.5 pp to 54.9. Most infrastructure-related items and metal items fell (except general machinery), while other sectors were mixed. to 50.7, dragged down by a sharp falloff in metal export orders. However, the PMI input price index was up 2.6 pp to 69.3. With the exception of specialized machinery, the PMI input prices indices of most infrastructure-related items rose. Credit Suisse Chief Economist for Non-Japan Asia Dong Tao believes the pressure on raw material prices remains acute in China, fuelled by
the resilience of the economy and excess liquidity conditions. In his view, the government’s main worry has persistently been related to inflation, and the rise of PMI input prices index in this survey does not offer any comfort. Dong, one of the guys who made the call on China early on (both up and down), is still looking for CPI inflation to exceed the 6% mark around mid-2011,
and believes it may only moderate slowly to 5.5% year over year by end-2011. Dong projects China to have 9.2% GDP growth for 2011, compared to 10.3% for 2010.

In de Egyptische hoofdstad Caïro lijkt de rust te zijn teruggekeerd na ingrijpen van het leger. Woensdagmiddag onstonden er rellen tussen voor- en tegenstanders van het huidige regime van president Mubarak op het Tahrirplein, het centrale plein in de hoofdstad Caïro. Het leger zette tanks in om de twee groepen uit elkaar te drijven. De aanhangers van Mubarak hebben het plein nu verlaten. De inzet van het leger, dat zichzelf 'neutraal' heeft verklaard, bleef beperkt.
