Deze onzekerheid en andere Afrikaanse landen voeren zich ook steeds meer, zullen de stemmingen op de beurzen in de wereld beheerzen.

Dat heeft een vertegenwoordiger van de beurs, waar sinds donderdag 27 januari niet meer werd gehandeld, zaterdag gezegd. Het is voor de tweede keer dat de opening is uitgesteld. Aanvankelijk zou de effectenhandel afgelopen maandag worden hervat; dat werd toen uitgesteld tot zondag 13 februari. Voor de sluiting verloor de beurs in Caïro in twee dagen tijd 16 procent, ofwel 69 miljard Egyptische pond (8,6 miljard euro), omdat beleggers zich grote zorgen maakten over de onrust in het land.

Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Persian Gulf shares rallied, sending Dubai’s benchmark stock index up the most in a week, after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s resignation bolstered investors’ optimism. Air Arabia, the low-cost airline with a hub in Alexandria, Egypt, rose the most in a week. Emaar Properties PJSC, the builder with investments in the North African country, jumped 1.9 percent even after its quarterly profit missed estimates. Dana Gas PJSC, a fuel producer in Abu Dhabi, surged to the highest level in more than a week. The DFM General Index gained 0.8 percent, the most since Feb. 7, to 1,611.51 at 10:51 a.m. in Dubai. The Bloomberg GCC 200 Index of Gulf stocks gained 0.1 percent.

Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The Canadian dollar rose against most of its major counterparts as an unexpected trade surplus in December encouraged speculation the Bank of Canada will raise borrowing costs sooner than other central banks.
The loonie advanced for a second week versus the yen in the longest stretch of gains since November as the Egyptian political turmoil that led President Hosni Mubarak to resign spurred demand for North American assets. Canada’s currency erased its weekly drop versus the greenback before next week’s report on inflation as the nation posted its first trade surplus in 10 months while the U.S. trade deficit widened. The Canadian currency advanced 1.5 percent to 84.49 yen yesterday, from 83.24 on Feb. 4. The loonie was little changed at 98.74 cents against the U.S. dollar, compared with 98.73 cents. The Canadian dollar has traded stronger than parity with the greenback since Feb. 1.
The C$3 billion ($3 billion) trade surplus in December followed a revised November deficit of C$115 million as energy and metals powered the biggest jump in exports in almost three decades, Statistics Canada said yesterday in Ottawa.

Laat U wel goed informeren, want er zijn vele kleine mijnbouwprojecten die geen goed einde (lees delfstoffen)zullen halen. De kosten van de nieuwe mijnen worden steeds hoger en de opbrengsten steeds kleiner.

Reuters) - The German government may need a two-thirds majority in parliament to approve any deal on the new permanent rescue mechanism for the euro zone, meaning it will need opposition support for any compromise, Der Spiegel magazine reported on Saturday. The report by the Bundestag's legal department underlines the challenge facing Chancellor Angela Merkel to convince the public and allies at home of a deal which will commit Germany to bankrolling future bailouts of euro zone member states. At a summit in December European leaders agreed to set up a permanent mechanism from mid-2013 to solve sovereign debt problems. It will replace the temporary system -- a 750 billion euro emergency loan facility created by the EU and IMF in May. As a quid pro quo for her support for the scheme, Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have put forward proposals for a "competitiveness pact" which is to be hammered out by March and has provoked strong opposition from other EU leaders.
