FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA--(Marketwire - August 01, 2007) - Alpine Biomed announced today that it has acquired the neurodiagnostic product line from Medtronic, Inc. Alpine Biomed has been the exclusive U.S. distributor of Medtronic's neurodiagnostic equipment and accessories since April 2005. The company also recently acquired Medtronic's gastroenterology diagnostic product line, which complements its existing gastroenterology products, such as the VersaFlex(TM) disposable pH catheters and the Ion(TM) Ambulatory pH Recorder, both used to help diagnose esophageal reflux disease.

With these recent acquisitions, Alpine Biomed assumes a leadership position in global specialty diagnostic devices in the gastroenterology and neurology clinical markets. Newly acquired products associated with neurodiagnostics include the Keypoint® electromyography (EMG) and evoked potentials systems, as well as the CLAVIS(TM) hand-held EMG/Stimulation-guided injection device. The systems are used in the diagnoses and treatment of various neuropathies. The complete product set includes assorted electrodes and accessories essential for use with the systems.

Alpine Biomed has also entered into a manufacturing relationship with Medtronic for Leadpoint® systems, which are used for targeting purposes in a variety of Medtronic therapy implants. Alpine Biomed will supply these systems to Medtronic, who will distribute them to customers globally.

"Our distributorship of the Medtronic neurodiagnostic product line the last two years has given us a strong understanding of the products, their applications, and the needs of the physicians who use them. We are committed to continual improvement of the product set and look forward to working closely with our customers to ensure innovative and relevant market leading products that are fully functional and user friendly," said William Brown, Vice President of Alpine Biomed. "We are extremely excited that Alpine is now a leader in both the gastroenterology and neurology diagnostic markets, and we will continue to seek new opportunities to leverage our strengths to expand the capabilities we offer our customers."
